Privacy policy
Last updated: 8 October 2026
The short version.
- Nobody signs up to Kwubble. There are no accounts, passwords, emails or phone numbers.
- The only things we keep are the game rooms and packs hosts create, and a leaderboard of the nicknames people play under.
- Photos, drawings, answers and votes from a game are kept in memory only while that game runs, then thrown away.
- No adverts, no tracking cookies, no analytics, and we never sell anything.
1. Who we are
Kwubble is a live party-game website built and run by Intellstra ("Intellstra", "we", "us", "our"). Intellstra is the data controller for the small amount of information described in this policy. You can reach us at developers@intellstra.com.
2. What we collect and why
Kwubble is designed to work without knowing who you are. Here is everything it handles.
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Game rooms and packs: the quizzes, prompts, settings and any pictures a host adds to a pack, plus the game PIN | So hosts can build games and play them again | Until the host deletes the pack, or we clear out old rooms |
| The host's chosen name and a random host code made by their browser | So the packs you build show up for you next time, without an account | The code lives in your browser; packs are linked to it until deleted |
| Players' nicknames, weights (scores), games played and wins | The season leaderboard, which shows on the big screen and at /api/season |
Until the board is reset or you ask us to remove a name |
| What you send during a game: answers, votes, sketches, photos, reactions, and taps or tilts | To play the game and show it on the host's screen | Only while the game is running. It is never written to disk. |
| Technical data: your IP address and browser details, which every website receives | To deliver pages, keep the live connection open and stop abuse | Short-lived server logs kept by our hosting providers |
We don't ask for, and don't want, your real name, email address, phone number, date of birth or location. Please pick a nickname rather than your full name, because nicknames appear on the shared leaderboard.
3. Camera, microphone and motion
Some games ask your phone for permission to use a sensor. You can say no and sit that game out.
- Camera (photo games): the photo you choose to send is shrunk on your phone, shown to the room during the vote, and discarded when the game ends.
- Microphone (cheer games): your phone works out how loud you are and sends only that number. No sound is recorded or leaves your phone.
- Motion (tilt and shake games): only the movement readings needed for the game are sent, and only while it runs.
4. Our legal basis
Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) we rely on our legitimate interests in running a game that you have chosen to join or host, and in keeping the service secure. Sensor access is only ever used after you allow it on your device.
5. Who else is involved
We never sell or share your information for marketing. A few service providers help us run Kwubble, and only process data on our behalf:
- Hosting and database providers, such as Supabase, which store the game rooms, packs and leaderboard.
- Google Fonts, which serves the typeface the site uses. Your browser fetches it directly from Google, which sees your IP address.
Some providers may handle data outside the UK. Where they do, they are bound by appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Everything you send during a game is shown to the other people in that room. That is the point of the game, so only send what you're happy for them to see.
6. Cookies and storage on your device
Kwubble sets no cookies and uses no advertising or analytics trackers. It does keep a few small values in your browser's local storage, all of which stay on your device:
- your host name and random host code, if you've used the host hub;
- your sound and vibration settings;
- your current game, so a refresh or a dropped signal puts you back where you were (cleared when you close the tab).
You can remove these at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
7. Children
Kwubble is a family-friendly party game and doesn't ask anyone for personal details. Children under 13 should play with a parent, guardian or teacher hosting, and should use a nickname rather than their real name.
8. Keeping it safe
Pages and the live game connection are sent over encrypted connections, and the little we store is held by reputable providers. No system is perfectly secure, which is one more reason we keep as little as possible.
9. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete information about you, object to how we use it, or ask us to restrict it. Because we don't have accounts, we may need you to tell us the nickname or pack you mean. Email developers@intellstra.com and we'll take it from there.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change how Kwubble handles data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
